There are some recipes that I just can’t seem to get enough of, cobblers are one of them. I mean they are so versatile, so easy to make, so incredibly delicious and who doesn't love a good cobbler? They are a total crowd favorite!

I have tried a lot of different cobbler recipes, and while I love them all, I can say that this Southern-style Berry Cobbler is the best one for sure.

Common Questions about Berry Cobblers

What’s the difference between a cobbler and a crumble?

This is one of the most common questions and one I used to have before entering this cobbler world. While cobblers, crumbles and crisps are all under the same dessert family they are all not the same. The main difference is the style of the topping.

  • Cobblers: Have a biscuit topping
  • Crisps: Have a oat streusel like topping
  • Crumbles: Have a crumb topping (made without oats)

So the secret for an amazing cobbler? A delicious biscuit topping!

What berries are better for cobbler?

The great thing about cobblers is that you can use any fruit you like or you have on hand. They are delicious with peaches, apples, pears and even plums.

However, berry cobblers are my total favorite! They are juicy and zesty and slightly tart and pair perfectly well with a big ball of ice cream on top.

I love to use a combination of strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and some blackberries. I love what flavor each one of those berries brings to the table.

Feel free to use either frozen or fresh fruits, the result is going to be just the same.
